RIP Jamie Pierre

World famous skier Jamie Pierre passed away Sunday after being swept by an avalanche at Snowbird resort in Utah. In addition to holding the record for biggest cliff drop, Jamie was the brother of colleague/frame builder/cross racer Andrew Pierre, a local Minneapolis hardman.

My thoughts and wishes go out to the Pierre family.

Jamie was a legend in the Salt Lake City area and in skiing circles the world over.

I struggled with whether or not to make it, but I learned of his passing through Yahoo, and thought that others in the cycling community who know and care for our buddy Pierre should have the chance to rally around one of our own in a time of tragedy.
